When you need legal assistance, finding good advice, let alone good advice with a smile, feels impossible. A few takeaways from my experience:
- The process takes forever. It’s just a fact. I never once felt the need to check-in or make sure Neyleen was on track. Most of the time, she’d check in with me to provide an update before I’d even thought of asking for one. I could rest assured knowing she was always on top of things.
- The process is overwhelming. I truly learned a life lesson from my time with Neyleen. Once she told me, “I try not to deal in hypotheticals.” My brain was on overdrive and wanted to consider everything. Her kind but firm hand in dealing with me let me know that whatever may come, she could handle.
- Insurance companies, even your own, are not your friends. A fact of life is that everyone is going to watch their own back before they watch yours. With Neyleen, I truly felt like I had a trusted partner up against giants and bulldogs of the industry.
- Chiropractors are not attorneys. Basically, don’t take advice from anyone who isn’t your attorney, even if they are well-intentioned. Neyleen’s depth of knowledge and experience is insurmountable to even that of those who deal with personal injury cases frequently but in a different capacity.
- Find an attorney ready to go the distance. Some places are more than willing to make settlement demands on your behalf but will bow out if/when it becomes necessary to prepare for and go to trial. Don’t be swindled by “settlement sweatshops.” Not only will they not fight for you till the end, but it could potentially hurt your case.
I wish I knew what I know now about legal battles but will never be ‘prepared’ for another. Fingers crossed I never have to be faced with one again. That said, I know exactly where I will turn should the occasion arise.”
